I am an extremely emotional person. I cry over everything. Books, movies, tv shows, you name it. I actually love when a book makes me cry, because I think it is so cool that a fictional story written by an author touched me so deeply. I thought it would be fun to make a list of books that have made me cry, so let’s get into it!
The Loose Ends List by Carrie Firestone
The Loose Ends List is about a family that goes on a “dying with dignity” cruise. I adored this book, and it made me sob! I knew coming into this novel that there would be death involved, but that didn’t stop me from crying over it!
Ghosts by Raina Telgemeier
Ghosts is a super quick middle grade graphic novel that I really enjoyed. I loved Telgemeier’s other books, so I picked this one up without knowing much about the plot. I absolutely was not expecting to cry during this book, but I was wrong! A main focus of this book is the relationship between sisters, and that is a topic that is very close to my heart. The main character, Cat, is the big sister (just like me), and everything she said or felt seemed like it was coming out of me. It was actually a bit of a strange experience, relating to a character so deeply. There is not really one specific sad moment in this book, just a melancholy undertone, and I wept throughout the whole thing.
Attachments by Rainbow Rowell
I don’t think this book was supposed to make me cry. Well, I did anyway! Honestly, this is not a sad book. Some of it is so adorable and happy! But there are just some parts of it where I felt so bad for certain characters that I just couldn’t help getting teary! I really, really enjoyed this book though- I thought it was great that this novel made me feel such varied emotions.
Little Dog, Lost by Marion Dane Bauer
I read this book a really, really long time ago. But I still remember sobbing! I know I was moving houses at the time, and some of my books were packed, so I randomly picked this one up. I read it in one sitting, and cried the whole time. I mean, it was about a lost dog, so of course I cried!
So, there are four books that made me cry! I might do a part two another time, so stay tuned!
